Low elevation moist site mature forest adjacent to Lower Priest River. Amazingly this forest is existing without being thinned for "forest health" issues!!!! Like they did for thousands of years.. Moist site forests here self-thin. This area is a good candidate for an old growth recruitment stand, or larger future old growth patch. It is in the INFISH zone of lower Priest River, Idaho. I heard pileated woodpeckers and fresh excavations in the dead grand fir were abundant. Looks like good fisher habitat also.
