Live Oak revisited

Post by tclikesbigtrees » Mon Sep 03, 2018 4:45 pm

We went back to Pensacola, FL to take our daughter back to college. This time I decided that I would wrap a tape measure around the huge Live Oak that we had first seen last year. That near 27 foot measurement is at almost ground level, because of how crazy the tree is growing. The 10 foot measurement is the branch or whatever you want to call it, growing to the right. We also attempted to measure the length of the lower branch to the left. It was about 87 feet.

Tom- I remember you posting about this odd form of Live Oak last year. It is most likely a tree that has Multi- Trunks that have fuse together over time. Very difficult to measure and I've seen this form occasionally. I need to get over there and look closely at the tree. I would also have to measure it of course lol. Looks like you guys enjoyed your drive down. Larry
