Thanks. I'll be back down this coming week for more hiking and photos. The Curly Redwood Lodge Motel just started hanging my prints a week ago, one room per day. They bought mats and are pulling the generic pictures that came with the frames years ago. I will be bringing 10 more for a total of 20 prints next week. By spring those should be on the walls. Eventually, all the rooms. The motel owner has extra curly redwood lumber and is considering custom frames later, the same size to utilize the same mats he's cutting now.Larry Tucei wrote:Mario- The first photo is great- look forward to many more always enjoy your photos of the great trees of California. When I was down that road, I was surprised how few signs of vehicle collision there were. I guess the drivers are suitably intimidated into driving sanely. Unlike Ohio, where prominent trees at the bends of roads become victims of multiple collisions over the decades. Here's a bend of Mattole Rd. near the Tall Tree in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. From a few weeks ago.

I find the body smaller than I prefer for portraits, etc. I really like the size to hold of a %DS or similar good size DSLR. But I got the mirrorless for video and a light weight body to bushwhack with. In that regard, it's 1/2 the weight and smaller. Instead of my f/2.8 70-200mm, I carry the 1/2 weight f/4 version. And then toss in the 16-35mm which is fairly light too. For color rendition, I find the Canon M5 to capture very close to the Canon 5DS, and it's some of the finest color I've ever seen for redwood or forest photos. I assume Sony's mirrorless are very good too. But the Canon M5, especially refurbished, is a bargain. Especially with focus tracking and dual-pixel focus. So far, I can say I prefer the DSLR experience with viewfinder better than the electronic view finder of the mirrorless, and probably always would prefer the DSLR in that aspect.KoutaR wrote:Mario, mdvaden wrote:Canon 5DS, Canon 5D Mk iii and Canon M5 mirrorless
How do you like mirrorless cameras in the forest photography?
