This Drury Tree in Prairie Creek has no lack of character.

So was that try partially felled?  The top hole looks a lot like a grown over felling notch to me -- with a scattering of spingboard holes underneath.

Its apparent there are closed-over spring board notches. Almost have to be there to see those though. They don't show up in photos very well.
Can't tell if anyone ever started a felling notch. But it must have been their intent.

You've tapped a memory trace Mario...I, as an Universal Life Minister, married a couple at the Community Center there.  Back then, there were carved redwood stumps (guard munchkins at each entry).  Haven't been there in years!

The carved stumps still exist.  I was unaware of them until somebody told me a few years ago.

The park looks like a good amount of volunteer work goes into it.

Now that we're settled more after the move to southern Oregon, maybe I can get to some more redwood photography. Especially when the rainy season arrives and forest starts looking it's best.

Even with all the time I have spent north, every time I see your photos I'm reminded of how different the redwood forests are down here as compared to up there.

John ... it would be nice to rendezvous for some redwood photography this autumn or winter. After a near-Oct 1st few days work trip to Portland, I may be on a roll again for redwood trips every few weeks. I have to align them with Nov. 1st though and then every 2 months on a 30th, 31st or 1st to place art in a gallery. It looks like I hit the mark on a photo detailed enough for a 30x40 or larger print canvas this past weekend.

Also photographed the TT again in PC, only not for anything artsy ... just for the record.

Here's Cal-Barrel Rd.. I think this road is every bit as epic as Howland Hill Rd. to the north. But Cal-Barrel is much less used.
