Need tree id help

Post by Jenny » Mon May 03, 2010 9:13 pm

Does anyone know what these trees/shrubs are? The ones with the red leaves just starting to blossom. They are at my Mom's house in Maine and she forgot what they are called. Thanks! Jenny

Jenny,

I can't say for sure, but it looks a bit like Serviceberry. They are blooming here in NB right now.

Most likely Purple-leaf Sand Cherry (Prunus x cistena).

Jenny,

Judging by your pictures your mom lives in an area less in the city than you probably do. Is that woods in the background?
