Soundscape with Installation at Walzgesprächen Eggenburg 201

I recently have been collaborating with a few art artists based in Vienna - this is a very short video of our current installation project, which uses my soundscape recording of hemlock trees which I captured in northwestern Connecticut a while back. Please let me know what you think - apologies for the short duration of the video.

Michael, the video screen within your email didn't work but the link at the top worked by going direct to YouTube.

I like it very much though I don't know why. With "modern art", it's always difficult to explain one's reaction to the work. We always try to make sense of art and if we can't we either reject it or revel in the mystery. For me, it's the latter with this work. Thanks for presenting it to us.

Thanks Joe - for me as well this project when we finished really had a kind of relaxing almost mesmerizing effect - though I cant explain why either.
The original video that was sent to me was much longer, and I am not sure why the person who shot it edited down so much. I think this video diminished the effect; if viewed over time, the installation has of way of drawing the viewer into it's 'atmosphere'. Oh well.

I just listened to the video and enjoyed it very much. It put me in a dreamy state and reminded me of the mesmerizing effect of wind in trees. Water running over rocks in a brook, wind in the leaves of trees, and the sound of the surf soothe us and allows us to disconnect from the harsh human-made sounds that define most of urban life.

Glad to read you thought your comment - it is great when we find havens where natural sounds still rule and we tried to emulate that relaxing aural and visual sensation that nature can produce in this project.

I hope that one day the US will adopt quiet area programs akin to our dark sky programs.
