Montpelier
Re: Montpelier
Larry,
Gary Beluzo just returned from the Smokies and Virginia. he stopped by Montpelier and took lots of photos. I'm looking forward to what he has to share. I think next spring will be the kickoff of the Montpelier study. Will that work for you?

Re: Montpelier
Larry,
One of Monica's and my friends works for TNC and explained to me the role of that organization in preserving the Landmark Forest. Our ENTS connections to that amazing place are destined to grow.
I was especially interested in the description of the soils and the area they cover. If they sustain such rapid growth, we should be able to locate other tall tree candidate sites. Another mission.

Re: Montpelier
Don:
Doubtful that I can make it tomorrow, Wednesday. Will you be working just that one day?
Just a couple of thoughts: are the leaves down enough? around here in northern VA there are lost of leaves still on the trees. Also, it is supposed to be rather windy--gusts over 30 mph--that makes me nervous when I am in the woods, and in older growth woods especially.
If you will still be there Thursday, I might have a better chance of making it.
