Tulip tree data @ Friendship Hill Site, Pennsylvania

Post by sjhalow » Tue Apr 05, 2011 7:49 pm

Hi Bob,

A couple weeks ago I went to Friendship Hill in Fayette County, PA, with my gf Randi and measured some tulip trees.
We conducted an extensive survey of the old/older growth areas within the site.

General Site Coordinates
N 39 45.261
W 79 55.400

The following are the 10 tallest that we found.

Height CBH
144.0' 8'-1"
140.5' 10'-9.5"
140.0' 7'-10"
139.0' 8'-3"
138.0' 7'-3"
137.5' 8'-1"
135.5' 7-3"
135.0' 7'-9"
128.5 10'-10"
128.0 9'-7"

The elevation of the site is roughly 1000'.
We hope this data will be useful in the tulip tree research being done by
Neil.
