Michael,

Thanks very much for posting this. Fascinating, and it reminds us of how our senses can work when we give them a chance. Becoming aware of the myriad of natural sounds in a forest is a huge leap forward in appreciating the natural world. That is hardly possible when nature sounds are drowned out by man-made sounds, especially those of internal combustion engines, smartphones, guns, mindless social chatter, etc. I guess it takes a blind person to lead us. I wonder what a deaf person would teach us?

How have you been? What are you doing these days?

Life as a rare fruit collector

Helton Josue Teodoro Muniz is a rare fruit collector. He has planted and cultivated over 1,300 species in his six hectare garden in Campina do Monte Alegre, in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
He was born with a motor neurone deficiency and only learnt to walk as a teenager. Today it is still difficult for him even to hold a seed.
But the childhood discovery of a fruit he had never heard of propelled him on a journey which led to the Rare Fruit Farm. 16 years later he is an internationally renowned fruit expert and author.

Hi Bob, things have been well and keeping busy with music projects. I am heading to Litchfield, CT today with audio equipment, so maybe something will come to fruition.
