#1)  About Time...

Postby RileyWSmith » Tue Jan 23, 2018 1:10 pm

Hello all,

My name is Riley Smith. I have haunted this forum for quite a few years now, but it seems I should eventually introduce myself. I am a recent Urban Forestry college grad, and have been involved with the MN Native Big Tree Registry for some time, contributing in articles and news bits when they relaunched a couple years back (http://www.startribune.com/minnesota-s-monster-trees-and-those-who-hunt-them/304556231/.) I love big trees but, in particular, I love telling their stories. I love studying big, old urban trees that see a total change in scenery during their lives from farm field to suburb and yet keep on growing as they always have. I have been measuring trees for 7-8 years or so all over Minnesota, Wisconsin, and elsewhere I travel. Without further ado, that's me. Here's a few photos from around Minnesota:

Welcome Riley-  I've measured a few trees in east central Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin through the years. That is a large Northern Cedar what were the measurements.  Larry

Riley,

Ditto to what Larry said. Welcome aboard. I've spent a fair amount of time in Minnesota. Dr. Lee Frelich at UMN is a good friend of mine.
