In April and May of 2017 I measured trees in Spring Hill Cemetery in Charleston. About one half of the 170 acres of the cemetery was covered including the oldest sections. The largest of each species measured is listed below.

Shortleaf Pine (Pinus echinata) 9.1' x 98.3'
Yellow-poplar (Lirodendron tulipifera) 15' x 97.6'
Sawara False Cypress (Chamaecyparis pisifera) 7.8' x 90.7', 7.9' x 89.8'
Eastern Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis 7,3' x 85,8'
Northern Red Oak (Quercus rubra) 11.4' x 76.6'
Post Oak(Quercus stellata) 11.9' x 76.2'
Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus) 5.8' x 74.1'
Southern Red Oak (Quercus falcata) 12.7' x 72'
Virginia Pine (Pinus virginiana) 6.3' x 70.8', 6.7' x 68'
Northern Catalpa (Catalpa speciosa) 9.5' x 69', 10.7' x 54.9'
White Oak (Quercus alba) 10.9' x 65.9'
Black Walnut (Juglans nigra) 5.8' x 63.2'
Siberian Elm (Ulmus pumila) 6.3' x 55.3'
Norway Spruce (Picea abies) 5.8' x 53.3'
American Holly (Ilex opaca) 5.4' x 52.9'
Red Mulberry (Morus rubra) 4.6' x 30.1'
White Fringetree (Chioanthus virginicus) 1.8' (@ 1 1/2') x 14.4.

The site cemetery is on a dry, south facing slope overlooking the City of Charleston and the Kanawha River. Elevation varies between 800-900 feet. It offers the best views of Charleston and is heavily used by hikers/runners and birders.

The cemetery was started in 1869 after the original cemetery along the river ran out of space. It is actually a collection of cemeteries that sorted their clientele out by religious orientation and by income (Potters Field).
Of note is the "Old Circle" designed and installed under the supervision of civil engineer A. J. Vosburg. It is typical of the Victorian Era. The cemetery is under the management of the City of Charleston Parks and still accepts burials. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
