Marsh Billings Estate
I think the old Hemlocks on Mount Tom at the Marsh Billings National Historic Site are worth examining. Reportedly 400 years old, and the last 150 in a maintained and manicured forest, they probably show about how big and happy hemlocks can get in these conditions. Marsh Billings has the state record for a Norway Spruce, a planted tree 109 years old, but these old hemlocks are much more impressive.

Re: Marsh Billings Estate
I would be curious to the height of that spruce.
