#1)  Multi-trunk beech trees

Postby chuckg » Wed Oct 31, 2012 5:14 pm

I purchased a home with two large/tall multi-trunk beech trees.  During the high winds of Tropical Storm Sandy, my neighbor was in the yard and noticed that one of the trunks was pulling away from the main trunk (this smaller trunk measures +- 8 inches in diameter.  Should I tie all these trunks together with an appropriate type of webbing with a turnbuckle or ratchet crank to ensure the continued integrity of this beautiful tree?  And, if so, how and at what height should I do this.  Sorry I do not have a picture, I will get one ASAP and post...
