I remember the storm that devastated Bratenahl in '92.  Large trees were down on many properties.  I'm surprised that tree made it relatively unscathed.  It must be back a bit from the road.  Many of those properties are very large so visitation will likely require permission.  There are plenty of fat oaks in there (likely pin and red with some white and swamp) but that was back before my measuring days

I was interested in the status of this tree and I talked to someone today who helps manage the estate on which the black oak grew.  He said that the tree basically succumbed to old age, and had to be taken down a while back.  The tree probably grew beyond it's normal life span due to the extensive cabling and other bracing that was done to protect it from structural damage.

Dwain- Thanks for the update-  well we all have a lifespan!  Larry
