New Height Co-champ Red Hickory

Post by bbeduhn » Mon Dec 14, 2020 9:03 am

A red hickory at Davidson River has topped 168'. It is in East Horse Cove. It ties a red hickory at Lee Branch, in South Carolina, located and measured by Jess Riddle. In the same small cove off of East Horse Cove, a 144.9' white oak and a 149.1, Biltmore ash, along with tall red oaks and black birches, reside. Just over a low ridge, the record height red oak resides, but it will likely lose that title in the coming months. In the apron just below the small cove, white pine hits 172.9'.

Wowza, what a cove. Can't wait to hear about the red oak situation.
