Link I just found that has a tiny bit on the Chimney Rock old-growth.

On a reply in a past post I did on the Hickory Nut Gorge, Jess Riddle mentioned to me that there is still some old growth in there. In hard to access areas on the ridgetops if I remember right.

I checked out the link. It will certainly be worth a visit!

I remember seeing some old growth, hickories in particular, in the touristy areas, particularly toward the bottom of Hickory Nut Falls as well. It's heartening that access is restricted in the richest groves. I may try to gain access to the area as I know someone fairly high up at Chimney Rock.
