Big white pine, up on a ridge

Here's a couple photos of a nice pine I found last fall. It's sitting on the relatively steep bank of a stream that flows into Grand Lake. CBH = 356 cm.

Good to get data from farther north. Three hundred and fifty six centimeters CBH comes out to 11.6 feet. That's a big pine for the north country, though not record setting. The white pine is surprise in its capacity to reach large volumes from northern Georgia to southern Canada.

I'm happy to provide data whenever I can. Hopefully I'll get my hands on a rangefinder and clinometer eventually so I can start providing height data as well.

There are certainly some surprisingly large trees scattered here and there around New Brunswick - often on stream and river banks that escaped the chainsaw. I saw a nice white pine just yesterday in such a location that was probably about 340 - 350 cm CBH, and very tall and straight.
