Creating 1st Wildlife Rehab. Center in NYC!

The Wild Bird Fund, where I often work and volunteer, has been accepted to compete for a $250,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project. Vote for this 'idea' every day during the month of September to help us WIN! It would basically cover the start-up costs for the Center. Additional grants and donations would be dedicated to the running of the center.

I've been caring for baby birds this summer and mostly working out of rehabber Rita McMahon's apartment. The larger birds are kept at an affiliated Veterinary clinic, Animal General.

This is a pic of a huge swan rescued from City Island in the Bronx that I somehow covered with a towel and picked up and moved into a large box for transport to a facility in NJ for intensive rehab (The Raptor Trust-WBF does not yet have the facilities it needs to rehab large water fowl.) But I can't believe I moved this bird and somehow remained unharmed!

Here is the link to the Wild Bird Fund info if you would like to participate in voting:

Thanks! Jenny
