Re: giant forest grown trees logged by neighbor

Green, I understand why you're upset about this situation. The small forest you've described seems pretty special, particularly for your area. I'd like to know why you characterized the cutting as "criminal." What law has this landowner broken? As far as I know, people are free to cut tre...

Re: giant forest grown trees logged by neighbor

Wow, that is depressing. That's a huge trunk in the photo. I'd do anything for just a few of those in my yard. I'd climb them, camp out under them, listen to them, and leave them for the next person that casts a shadow here. I try to look for the good that can come out of negative events. Maybe tho...

Re: Small Sugar Maple rich NJ forest patch

For now, at least, most of the specific little area I've mostly been talking about above actually appears to be safe. .... I suppose they [little extensions into people's backyards) could be logged but it's not been the sort of area where there has ever been any people eager to log their backyards ...

Re: Small Sugar Maple rich NJ forest patch

I agree with you 100 percent. Why buy property in or near a Forest and they cut every tree. To bad there is no type of cutting restriction. The would have been better off moving into a Field and save them some money and the Forest!!!!!!!!!! What a waste of resources!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Larry Yeah it's...

giant forest grown trees logged by neighbor

another shot showing the scale of trees taken down, here a Sugar Maple (note that this was NOT a field grown tree, this was a very tall, forest grown trunk that had no branches until many tens of feet up, so this thick for a forest grown tree is a much different story than for an open lawn tree wher...

Re: Small Sugar Maple rich NJ forest patch

another shot showing the scale of things, they took down this ancient Sugar Maple and you can see the gigantic trunk behind their deck, and keep in mind, this was a tall, forest grown tree, with no branching until many tens of feet up the trunk so don't mistake it for one of those fat open grown law...

Re: Small Sugar Maple rich NJ forest patch

To get a bit of a sense of scale, this shows a tree at the edge of the old forest where it went into their backyard. They cut almost a dozen in that class.

Re: Small Sugar Maple rich NJ forest patch

Insane, they've been working for days. If the new owner didn't apparently some sort of very close connection to the tree people no way this would be done, the job must be up to 25k in cost by this point if it were at market value tree removal pricing. And they now put the part in the wildlife manage...

Re: Small Sugar Maple rich NJ forest patch

UTTER HORROR! NO WORDS! FOOLS JUST MOVED INTO ONE OF THE ADJACENT LOTS AND THEY LOGGED THEIR SECTION FLAT (as well as every other single tree on the sides and in front of their property!). Why do you chose the single most wooded lot in the entire community to move into if you hate how it looks? They...
