They say "The grove is located on Crown land in the San Juan River Valley near Port Renfrew on southern Vancouver Island in the unceded territory of the Pacheedaht First Nation band. Most of the grove is unprotected, with a small portion, about two hectares, lying within an Old-Growth Management Are...

Radial Growth Mechanisms

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/01/190109142645.htm Two international research teams have identified key regulatory networks controlling how plants grow 'outwards', which could help us to grow trees to be more efficient carbon sinks and increase vegetable crop yields. As we crane our neck...

Re: Kentucky Coffeetrees in Michigan

Doug, Kentucky Coffeetree is such an unusual tree; I love to see them in their natural habitat, though in NY, as Erik wrote, their range is very limited. I know of a handful of examples (all planted) which have grown to between 100 and 110' in height. In Aurora, NY, a really large Coffeetree gracin...

Re: Oh Deer

20 on 60 acres would be 200 per sq mile. A huge number that I have seen reported only once for Nantucket. 40 is claimed now. Deer are a big problem alright but it seems possible that other factors could be involved over 20 years. http://maps.adventuremapping.com/whitetail_map/deer_density_map_1.asp ...
