Rilke poem

If we surrendered
to earth's intelligence
we could rise up rooted, like trees.

Re: Bringing wood as art indoors

I think I'll just use boric acid. My woodworker stepson said that should be OK.

Bringing wood as art indoors

Does anyone have suggestions about what to use to get insects out of this wood without using insecticide? I haven't seen any insects in it, but I would not want to bring any into the house, or to watch this beautiful branch deteriorate.

Thanks,

Re: American Chestnut stumps and snags in NC?

Re: River dolphins in tree tops

Thanks Lucas. I didn't see any dolphins, but they were interesting web sites. I'll look at Nat. Geo.

River dolphins in tree tops

Here's a bizarre request for all you scientist, photographer, artist, and other members. I once saw a beautiful depiction of a dolphin swimming through the top branches of a tree during the flooding of the Amazon. It was on a greeting card in a bookstore. Even though it was a very striking image, I ...

Re: "Night of the Ginkgo" Oliver Sacks, New Yorker Magazine

Hi Jenny,

I've read of ginkgo parties in autumn. Once its leaves start falling they go fast. So people pull up lawn chairs and celebrate.
