Re: one last visit to the great oak
Thank you John and the others for replying. John, we also saw the Warren Kinney oak while we were up there. In the past, if I had known about it and that it was that close, I would have gone to see it. Now that the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Oak is dying, the Warren Kinney is my favorite oak in New...

No way! This is the first I've heard. That's really a shame. Wow.

Re: Any idea on age of these Blueberry bushes?
I can't really answer your question, but I have seen similar looking Blueberry bushes here in Mullica Township. Since I first discovered them I have wondered how old they are, and I also have been curious of how long they can live.

There's also a big oak on the other side of the house, which I didn't get a picture of.

Big Hemlock found in Salem County, NJ
Today I was out looking for old houses and anything else that I might want to photograph, when I found this big old hemlock in someone's side yard. It's got to be the biggest I've seen in South Jersey. It's in Quinton Township, very near the Cumberland County line. I thought I was seeing things. I s...

Awesome. I know of Blue Bell Road. I'll have to drive on it one of these days. I like checking out roads I haven't been on, or road I've only been on a part of.

Re: Great Sycamores of New Jersey, Pennsylvania (Photo galle
Hey folks, Somewhere I mentioned (maybe in this thread) that there's one right on the side of US 40 in Franklin Township, Gloucester County that I've had my eye on for years. Well finally, yesterday I was driving down that way and I had my camera around my neck and ready. I actually took this pictur...

Healthy older Hemlock, Cumberland County
A few weeks ago I and some friends were looking for a lost family burial ground on the property of an 18th Century Farmstead that is now a State Park. This is in Cumberland County, near the Salem County line. We had been given a tip of where to look. The first thing I noticed were two trees that see...

Re: The big move to California, the trees I leave behind :(
I take issue with your opinion, or description of Pitch Pines. Pitch Pine is one of my all-time favorite trees in NJ. That along with Atlantic White Cedar and Buttonwood. This Pitch Pine is in the Atlantic County Park at Estell Manor. It has to be one of the mature trees that were not removed during...

Yes it does.
As impressive as it is now, it must have been really something to see when it had all of its branches.
