Re: LiDAR Coverage for the Eastern USA

Thank Michael. I appreciate your looking at the are. Ed, I processed Cook Forest State Park last year and found the same trees you and Bob already found, including the 185 white pine. Nothing taller was found on the LiDAR. Will post images soon. My ISP at home does not allow me to post images. Essen...

Ebberts Pass

AJ- Along with Juniperus occidentalus, my backpacking in the Sierra Nevadas exposed me to the five needle pines, usually not far from tree line, generally where life was best! One summer, my work took me across the spine of the Sierra Nevadas on four separate primitive roadways (120, 108, 4, and 88)...

Re: LiDAR Coverage for the Eastern USA

Edward, what do you think of reviewing Heart’s Content and Tionesta Scenic Area? Mark I would be interesting but there are not as many tall trees there as there are at Cook Forest and therefore comprehensive ground surveys there are more practical. I just suggested what I thought was the most intri...

Re: LiDAR Coverage for the Eastern USA

Michael, I am curious about Cook Forest State Park in PA. We had a fairly comprehensive survey a number of years ago. This would be a chance to see what has grown, and get a feel for how comprehensive the original survey was. We have maybe hundreds over 120, but fewer from 130 up with maximums to al...

Re: Where is NTS Going

Erik The reason I first became involved with the Eastern Native Tree Society, and took over as the webmaster many years ago was to preserve the information being presented in the various forum posts so that it would not simply fade away. I still see that as a valuable service provided by the NTS BBS...

Re: Where is NTS Going

Part of the problem may be the changing digital landscape. When ENTS first was created it was on a simple discussion list. That changed to a discussion list on Topica, then to one on Google Groups, and then to this BBS. People are not going as much to specialized single topic sites as much as the us...

Black Guides of Mammoth Cave

A number of my friends here in the NTS donated to my Indiegogo campaign to help fund my documentary "Black Guides of Mammoth Cave." The Black Guides of Mammoth Cave is a documentary about the history and legacy of black guides at Mammoth Cave from the time of slavery until the present day....

Re: Measuring Fusions

Don, As you know I have been well into the discussions of single trunk versus multitrunk for years. I even wrote the Wikipedia document on the subject. As time passes and after my break from daily participation in the group, I am having heretical thoughts on the subject. Yes they grow faster and a m...
