Eli Haven't been on this site for a good while, but here is my two cents. There aren't many truly big oaks in downtown Sav'h that I'm aware of. Most of the oaks downtown in the Squares, parks and streets where planted about 100-120 years ago. The ones in Emmett Park on Bay St were planted in the 189...

No longer there. Like the Senator Cypress in FLA, some vandals set it on fire 5 or 6 years ago. Only some sorry sections remain alive.

I have been over there several times over the years and yes it is well worth the visit. It is different than most the islands in that little of the island has been cleared. It is a narrow island probably not over 1/2 mile wide over much of it's length. It is a series of old dune ridges and wet swale...
